The Battery Bug® Starting Battery Monitor (SBM) series increases the reliability of batteries in engine starting applications. The BB-SBM uses patented CrankCheck technology to monitor cranking health and other critical battery performance data. For cars, light trucks, motorcycles, and other engine starting batteries.

Performance: The Battery Bug constantly analyzes key parameters of battery operation

• CrankCheck automatically tests cranking performance at every start
• A microprocessor continuously monitors decay in battery cranking performance and calculates total battery cranking state of health
• The Battery Bug monitors charger and alternator performance for damaging over-charge and under-charge conditions
• Automatic volt meter mode shows battery terminal voltage every two seconds
• Battery temperature is constantly measured and the cranking state of health alarm is adjusted for extreme low temperatures

Audible Alarms: Install it and forget it. The Battery Bug will sound an alarm when the battery needs attention.

• Replace battery / end of life alarm will sound when cranking health drops below 10%
• The overcharge alarm will sound when alternator voltage is above 15.0V
• Low battery / recharge when a chronic undercharge condition is detected (below 12.1V for more than 30 seconds) and the battery needs to be charged.

Display: The informative LDC display provides a complete picture of battery health

• Starting performance of the most recent engine start is displayed by a flashing bar on the analog display.
• Cranking state of health / battery life is shown as a numerical state of health number and also is displayed on the analog display.
• Battery voltage and alternator / charger voltage are displayed so correct charging functions can be confirmed.
• Replace battery and low battery icons indicate what actions need to be taken when an alarm is active.

Installation and Compatibility:

• Compatible with any 12V battery used for engine starting.
• Software is optimized for batteries used for starting cars, light trucks, emergency vehicles, generators.
• 'Y' terminals and flexible leads connect to any battery lug style
• Installs in minutes directly to battery
• Rugged, water-tight case conveniently mounts to battery
• Becomes active one minute after installation. When active, the BB-SBM12 continuously monitors charge level and battery voltage and remains ready to record the cranking performance of the battery every time the engine is started.
